Dr Amanda Sainsbury-Salis, PhD is author of The Don’t Go Hungry Diet. If you’ve been struggling with your weight then this is a good eye opener into why your diets have been failing. I have been taking Amanda’s advice and listening to my body and only feeding my hunger. Since March 2009 I have lost 8kg and 11cm off my wasit. It’s working! If you think about it, it’s real simple. Only eat when you feel physically hungry, and stop eating when you feel satisfied (not over full).  To find out more go to Dr Amanda Online.

Wishing everyone a healthy and happy Christmas!!! Eat well and be nice to friends and family. See you in 2009 for a fitter and stronger you.

So you’re an avid runner. That’s great! But you’re getting some aches and pains in your muscles, making it difficult for you to stick to your fitness routine and exercise as much as you would like. You ignore them, hoping they’ll just go away.

Think Twice.

Small pains can develop into a much bigger problem when left untreated. Go see a Physiotherapist to improve movement and function. Or a Chiropractor to remedy your musculoskeletal disorders by manipulating your spine. Try some Osteopathy for a holistic approach focusing on your overall health. Whichever you choose, it’s a positive step in the right direction.

Believe me, catching an overly tight gastrocnemus, and getting a twisted sacrum corrected has done me the world of good. It has saved me money and most importantly….it has kept me running!

Go get yourself sorted! Because we all want to keep on exercising and enjoying life.

Let’s all take advantage of the extra day light and use the outdoors to workout. Go for an after work power walk or jog around your neighbourhood. If you’re a morning person, take advantage of the early sunrise and workout then. Let’s all aim to get fitter and be healthier this Summer.

The Beep Test measures your cardiovascular maximum. You need to set out 20 meters and run from one end to the other. The Beeps start off slow, then get faster and faster. You stop when you can’t reach one end before the beep. I managed to get to Level 8.3 this week. My goal is Level 10. How far can you go?

This challenge involves a Treadmill.  Start running on a speed of 10 and a grade of 0 for 1 minute. Then each minute increase your grade/incline by 1 and keep the speed the same. How far can you go?? I managed 10 minutes. I had one client complete 13 minutes. This is a highly intense cardio workout. Go for it!!

It’s a little harder over Christmas and New Year to eat sensibly, but still keeping aware of the food choices that we make is important. Just keep up the exercise and you’ll be right. 4-5 times a week and you’ll be sure to burn all those unwanted calories.

I have lost a kilo!! YAY!! So my eating plan is working.  I’m eating a lot, also exercising 5 times a week and staying away from high fat foods. I will continue this regime for another 4 weeks and keep you updated. Keeping a food diary has helped me a lot. I kept one for 3 days and wrote down everything that I consumed. (You gotta be honest with yourself!)  It really worked *_* It stopped me from eating that extra biscuit, or piece of chocolate because I didn’t want to write it down. So keeping a food diary is a good motivational tool for staying on track.

Still being really good with chocolate!! I allowed myself 2 days of eating a few sweet things.

I survived the first week. It was a little hard to not eat any chocolate but I did it. It’s now Thursday and I have had a few treats…..a handful of M&Ms, some mango gelato (yummy). I think I can have one more treat on Saturday and that’s it for week 2. It’s getting easier to say no and not think about my monsterous cravings.
